The Possum Pilot

Free aviation study guides I built while earning each of my ratings. Different folks have different ways of studying — for me, flash-card style works best. Hope these help you as much as they helped me.

Instrument Rating Study Guides

These three study guides helped me pass my IFR oral exam and checkride. Run through them at least once a day leading up to your checkride and you'll be in great shape. Click an image to launch.

Commercial Rating Study Guides

Same deal — work the mnemonics and charts, learn all the ACS knowledge. Commercial is cumulative on top of IFR and Private, so keep reviewing the older stuff too. Go through these once a day leading up to your checkride. Break a leg!

Multi Engine Add-On Study Guides

With Multi you're learning a new airplane, so take the time to know that plane inside and out. And Multi is really all about how you'll deal with an engine failure and safely fly on one engine. Break a leg!

CFI Study Guides

Because CFI and CFII harken back to previous ratings so much, I didn't create a lot of new material — but here's a good one for the FOIs.

Know Your Airplane Study Guides

I've done four of these. These are specific to particular planes in particular configurations — if your plane is different, know that plane!

Want a Know Your Airplane guide for your aircraft? Send me an organized spreadsheet with all the info you see in these slides, plus anything else you think belongs in there. When I have time I just may be able to put it together for you. Get in touch.
